Breckenridge Winter Events
Breckenridge embraces the spirit of winter with a variety of unique and fun events.
Breckenridge embraces the holiday spirit at the Lighting of Breckenridge. Each year, on the first Saturday of December, locals and visitors gather together to celebrate the start of the holiday season in Breckenridge.
Ring in the holidays with the Race of the Santas (picture hundreds of Santas sprinting through the center of town), and the Bernese Mountain Dog Parade before we light our glittering town tree. This wonderful, free family event is not to be missed!
Don a horned Viking helmet and help us pay homage to Ullr (pronounced “ool-er”), the Norse God of Snow. The four-day festival features events throughout town, including the Ullr Ice Plunge and the legendary Main Street Parade and bonfire.
Ullr Fest Signature Events:
There will also be tons of other events and activities going on all weekend, including: the Breck Ascent Series, Crowning of the Ullr King and Queen, Breck’s Got Talent, Fat Bike Eliminator, Hangover Breakfast, Ullr Ice Plunge, Comedy Night, Ullr Bike, Breckenridge Bucks Hockey Game, Ice Skating Party, Ullympics, and the Wild and Scenic Film Festival.
The Big Beers Festival is a world-class event that has been happening for 20 years. Meet renowned brewmasters and brewery owners, taste hundreds of big, Belgian-style and experimental beers, explore beer and food pairings and learn from an impressive array of brewmasters and industry experts over an action-packed three-day weekend. Enjoy the opportunity to discuss beer with the amazing people who make it.
Typically during the third week of January.
Watch professional artists from around the world hand-carve 20-ton blocks of snow into intricate works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools, creativity and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. Sculpting for 96 hours across five days results in a temporary outdoor art gallery in historic downtown Breckenridge!
Always on Fat Tuesday.
Every year, Mardi Gras fans visit Breckenridge to ski, ride and celebrate Fat Tuesday with masks, boas, beads, music and revelry. Breckenridge celebrates by closing Main Street and hosting a Mardi Gras Parade.
